Children with Disabilities Programme Conference 2026

Children with Disabilities: A Holistic Approach towards Care, Inclusion and Empowerment.

In 2026, Misean Cara will host a conference to share the learning, experiences and outcomes from its three-year Children with Disabilities (CWD) Programme. Supported by the GHR Foundation, the programme brings together projects in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and South Africa that are working to improve community-based support and inclusion for children with disabilities and their families.

The conference will provide a space for Misean Cara members, practitioners, researchers and partners to reflect on what has been learned through the programme, explore practical approaches to disability inclusion, and discuss how these insights can inform future work. Through presentations, discussions and shared experiences from the nine participating projects, the event will highlight effective models of support and identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration and advocacy for the rights and inclusion of children with disabilities.

At the conference we will welcome speakers and panelists from Misean Cara, GHR Foundation, Catholic Care for Children, Irish Aid, the Irish Embassy to Kenya, as well as colleagues and specialist from across the NGO sector.

Through a format of evidence presentations, video case studies, panel discussions and special guest speakers, the conference will:

  • Present programme findings and evaluation results
  • Share scalable community-based inclusion models
  • Foster dialogue between practioners and policymakers
  • Strengthen networks for disability-inclusive development

When: Tuesday, 14th April 2026 9am – 5pm

Where: KISE College – Nairobi, Kenya
