Kevin Carroll – In Memory

A message from Misean Cara CEO, John Moffett on the passing of Kevin Carroll, Chair of the Misean Cara Board of Directors from 2021 to 2025:

It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of former Misean Cara Board Chair Kevin Carroll, who passed away peacefully on 19th January, surrounded by his family.

Kevin was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease over two years ago. The illness progressed rapidly and had severely affected his mobility over the last year. Kevin bore the illness with courage, resilience and acceptance, and buoyed by his faith he remained committed to Misean Cara until the end of his board tenure in June 2025.

His calm, reflective counsel and guidance were of great value and influence and will have a lasting impact on the organisation.

Kevin’s work on the board of Misean Cara was the pinnacle of a lifetime of commitment to alleviating poverty and creating opportunities for development. His 30-year career in international development included work in five countries in the Global South through positions with Irish Aid, Trócaire, and Concern. He also worked as a Missionary Development Officer with Saint Patrick’s Missionary Society and served as a part-time lecturer in development studies at University College Dublin.

Misean Cara extends its deepest sympathies to Kevin’s family.

May he Rest in Eternal Peace.

-John Moffett, CEO Misean Cara
