Field Visits 2022

Misean Cara Project Monitoring Visits

Misean Cara Project Monitoring Visits

After more than two years of pandemic-related travel restrictions, Misean Cara staff are once again travelling abroad to conduct in-person monitoring visits of the projects that we fund.

Project Monitoring & Evaluation

Comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of projects is a key component of how we provide support to our members throughout the life of their projects. In a typical year, our staff and mentors conduct around 70 project monitoring visits, meeting the project teams, participants and other stakeholders. Through these visits we learn from good practice and understand better the specific challenges and needs of project teams.

In March 2020, when COVID-19 shut down all international travel our staff were no longer able to conduct these critical visits in-person. A Distance Monitoring process was developed and put in place to enable staff and mentors to observe and interact with projects remotely.

Field Visits 2022

While it is our intent going forward to continue with a blended approach between distance and on-site monitoring, we would like to share with you a series of blogs by our staff who have recently returned from the first of these resumed, in-person monitoring visits to the field.

The first, in July 2022, was a visit to projects in Peru and Colombia by Misean Cara Learning & Development Officer, Jenny Ackermann. Click below to read about her meetings with members, volunteers and participants in the Sustainable Livelihoods and Women’s Empowerment projects that she visited.
