Supported by the GHR Foundation, the three-year CWD programme brought together Misean Cara member projects in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and South Africa that are working to improve community-based support and inclusion for children with disabilities and their families.
The conference in 2026 provided a space for Misean Cara members, practitioners, researchers and partners to reflect on what has been learned through the Misean Cara Children with Disabilities programme, explore practical approaches to disability inclusion, and discuss how these insights can inform future work. Through presentations, discussions and shared experiences from the nine participating projects, the event highlighted effective models of support and identified opportunities to strengthen collaboration and advocacy for the rights and inclusion of children with disabilities.
The conference welcomed speakers and panelists from Misean Cara, GHR Foundation, Catholic Care for Children International, Irish Aid, Kenya National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK), Association of the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) and Christian Blind Mission (CBM).
