Children with Disabilities Programme – Resources

Programme Resources

This page brings together a range of resources developed through the Children with Disabilities (CWD) Programme of Misean Cara.

The materials available here share the learning, research and practical tools generated through the programme and are intended to support members, partners and practitioners working to promote the rights, inclusion and wellbeing of children with disabilities and their families.

CWD Framework, Toolkit and Programme Research

At the centre of these resources is the CWD Framework and Toolkit, which guides members in adopting a holistic approach to care, inclusion and empowerment. The framework highlights six key dimensions of support: direct support for the child in the home, family support, inclusive education, access to services, inclusive communities and inclusive societies.

The framework is grounded in the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and is complemented by guidance papers, a CWD Self-Assessment Tool, and research on key themes such as disability prevention, safeguarding in a disability context and family support.
