Misean Cara online event presents new research into the missionary approach to development and reaching the furthest behind first

After a successful internal launch of our research into how the Missionary Approach to Development Interventions enables our members to reach those who are furthest behind, Misean Cara held a public online Learning Event on this topic on 29th April. Attending the event were representatives from Misean Cara member organisations, other faith-based organisations and development NGOs, as well as representatives from USAID, the Irish Embassy in Kenya, UNICEF, and the GHR Foundation.

During the call, Sr. Jo Mc Carthy (Presentation Sisters/Misean Cara Board member) presented the MADI Framework to the audience and independent researcher Mike Williams presented his findings on reaching those furthest behind. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion with Sr. Rosemary Oduol (FMSA), Sr. Aruna George (Good Shepherd Sisters), Eamonn Brehony (independent researcher) and John Moffett (CEO, Misean Cara).

Before the start of the panel discussion, participants at the meeting collaborated on a word cloud based on terms associated with reaching the furthest behind first, resulting in the graphic seen above.
