Five years on since the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone, Ebola survivors are living on the margins of society due to the stigma of the disease. Our members are ideally placed in communities across in Sierra Leone to respond immediately. Misean Cara’s Emergency Sierra Leone Fund will allow our members to respond to stop the hunger, provide access to health care and help re-build lives.
Examples of initiatives we fund are:
- Provision of water, sanitation, health services, emergency shelter, and emergency feeding programmes to people living in disaster affected areas
- Distribution of emergency supplies
- Protection and support for refugees/internally-displaced people
By donating to our Emergency Sierra Leone Fund, you will allow us to respond rapidly and effectively to the needs of Ebola survivors, in a way that saves lives and puts them back on the path to a better future.
Heydi Foster, Misean Cara CEO recently visited Sierra Leone and met with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny and the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary to see their work with Ebola survivors. Sierra Leone’s Ebola survivors are living on the margins of society due to the stigma of the disease. But Misean Cara’s members are offering support and hope. Read Heydi’s blog post.
