Misean Cara is seeking a dynamic and motivated Fundraising Manager.

 
MISEAN CARA
Founded in 2004, Misean Cara is a faith based organisation of 89 congregations who are committed to working with and for the marginalised and most vulnerable people in the developing world. Our members live within marginalised communities and work in the areas of education, healthcare including HIV/AIDs, community development, income generation, water and sanitation, the environment and human rights. With funding of €15.5 million in 2016 from Irish Aid, Mission Cara is seeking to develop a diverse range of other sustainable funding streams so we may continue to work in ways that transform lives while respecting the integrity of local cultures.

Our 4- year Strategic Plan 2013-2016 sets out eight key objectives:
1. Support high quality formal and informal education initiatives.
2. Support high quality health care initiatives.
3. Support high quality income generation and livelihoods initiatives.
4. Support high quality advocacy and human rights initiatives aimed at challenging the structural causes of poverty, marginalisation and injustice.
5. Demonstrate the results delivered through work undertaken for the benefit of vulnerable and marginalised people and communities.
6. Follow clear policies that utilise best practice approaches to improve development effectiveness.
7. Further enhance the professional expertise and technical systems of members in the development sector.
8. Further enhance the organisational capacity of Misean Cara.

The Fundraising Manager will have a proven track record in raising funds in the international development field. They will be responsible for researching, developing and delivering on a successful overall fundraising strategy, supplementing existing grant funding and driving, broadening and expanding Misean Cara’s fundraising activities to meet the financial needs of the organisation. The Fundraising Manager will have direct responsibility for the delivery of a number of key fundraising campaigns, whilst ensuring the organisation’s reputation and brand identity is protected and promoted. They will also have responsibility for setting an appropriate communication strategy and managing external communication activities, supported by the Communications Officer.

Main Tasks:
Develop a deep understanding and demonstrate commitment to the values, ethos, goals and work of Misean Cara communicating these with integrity, clearly and effectively to donors, funders, supporters and partners.

Fundraising
• Develop and deliver comprehensive and coherent fundraising strategies for Misean Cara that are cost effective, provide excellent return on investment and secure donors.
• Set and achieve realistic time lined fundraising targets, agreed in consultation with CEO, Senior Management Team and Board.
• Create a sustainable and diverse fundraising portfolio, with wide ranging funding streams including individuals, major gifts, corporate, CSR, community events, trusts/foundations and other grant makers.
• Research, drive and lead the development of large scale multi-country funding proposals to European and other international funders.
• Carry out prospect research and develop a comprehensive fundraising database that captures all relevant information, as well as handling all administrative aspects of fundraising.
• Plan and deliver new digital strategies for raising funds and digital personalisation initiatives to improve donor engagement.

Communications
• Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive and coherent communications strategies and budgets for Misean Cara that promote our ethos and brand.
• Lead and manage the communications function in the production of relevant and timely external communications with supporters, including the development of effective relations with the media.
• Oversee articles, speeches and develop position and briefing papers for CEO.
• Lead and supervise the Communications Officer.

Experience and Qualifications
• A strong track record of securing funding for charities/NGO organisations and from a range of funding streams.
• A strong portfolio of communication and awareness raising materials.
• An understanding of the international developmental field.
• Relevant third level qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising and markets.
• Demonstrable results in a management position, including the ability to lead and motivate staff.

• Experienced at working on one’s own as well as being an effective team player with an open and flexible attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple demands and projects.
• Excellent IT and social media skills.
• Flexibility in work arrangements-the role involves travel and out of hours and weekend work.

Terms and Conditions
• A 2-year contract basis;
• Salary range €55,000 to €65,000 depending on qualifications and experience;
• 37.25 net hour work-week;
• Based in Misean Cara Head Office in Dublin;
• 9 months’ probation; and
• All positions in Misean Cara are subject to Garda vetting and full reference checks.

Reporting
The Fundraising Manager will report to the CEO.
