Guatemala
(Rural Development)
Fish Farm-construction of 2 fish tanks, fish processing plant, water
channels and sand filter and training programme for staff and
community facilitators on cultivation, organic farming, appropriate
technology, maintenance, processing and marketing of fish. Sale of
fish to increase local farmers' incomes and contribute to reducing
malnutrition.
Honduras
(Primary Healthcare)
Health education and prevention of disease to empower people to take
responsibility for their personal health, the health of their
community and the environment, provision of a support system to
families in crisis, health maintenance and alleviation of stress, by
offering a programme of complimentary therapies.
El Salvador
(Capacity Building)
Intensive leadership training for 65 members of social outreach
teams to include the formation/reactivation of community development
associations. Construction of 13 rainwater catchment tanks and local
capacity building in financial control project, community
organisation and gender equity. Introduction of a pilot programme in
solar cooking, alongside the promotion of organic agriculture and
marketing of produce, and production and use of soya milk and soya
fortified nutritional supplement.
El Salvador
(Capacity Building)
Capacity building training of 3 communities affected by hurricane,
on how to prevent, prepare for, and respond to future disaster.
These included holding 6 training workshops for 75 community
representatives on: advocacy and civic participation, protecting the
environment, preventing future disasters, and implementing a
prevention action plan.
