Sr Maria Fe Silva,
Salesian Sisters - Project to aid the completion
of the construction of the training of trainers’
centre in Comoro, East Timor.
This project was carried out to answer to East
Timor’s urgent need to improve the quality of
education by qualifying East Timorese teachers,
especially primary school teachers, through
upgrading courses. This is the concrete response
to the appeal on the resolutions of the Congress
on Education in East Timor, in Dili in 2003. The
construction of the Auditorium, laundry,
refectory and kitchen have been successfully
accomplished and of the residential house of the
Training of Trainers’ Centre, is in its last
finishing stage.
As the construction had been successfully
accomplished the planned activities in 2006-2007
will be the implementation of the upgrading
seminars for several groups at different
schedules: Kindergarten School Teachers; Primary
School Teachers; Health Awareness Seminars in
collaboration with the Ministry of Health;
Seminar and Formation of workers in
collaboration with the Ministry of Labor.
The Training of Trainers’ Centre aims to improve
the quality of education to the East Timorese
children by offering possibilities of becoming
qualified, competent and effective educators. It
is envisaged to give East Timor a better future
by providing the East Timorese people better
education, which is the essential key to
progress and development. Having educated and
qualified East Timorese people gives them
chances of improving and elevating their life as
individuals and as a nation at large.
